Turkish railway and green energy firm Sun Group Ltd and Italian turbogenerator
systems producer Turboden have signed a letter of intent (LoI) to build two
geothermal power plants with 100 megawatt (MW) capacity each at a total cost of
300 million euro ($408 million) in Turkey, local media reported on
Friday.

Italy last week, involves planning, investment and transfer of technology
activities related to the two geothermal projects that will be sited in the
Turkish Aegean provinces of Canakkale and Manisa, news daily Star
reported.
Sun Group’s renewable energy unit Yeni Basak Enerji has three
geothermal drilling licenses in Canakkale and one in Manisa, according to
information on the website of Sun Group.
Turkey’s installed geothermal
power capacity reached 250 MW as of September 2013, while its geothermal power
generation potential is estimated at 31,500 MW, Star added.
