First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said that the mining basin Kolubara has exceeded the planned coal output by one million tonne, and that the 26-year-old record of 116,000 tonnes produced in a single day was broken on 8 February.

Once a loss-making company, the Kolubara coal mine has been transformed into a company that is generating profit, Vucic said.

Kolubara once had losses amounting to RSD 3.8 billion, but is now generating profit of RSD 800 million, Vucic said.

It is good that the coal mine has taken over 1,470 workers from the Kolubara usluge company, because they used to work for salaries amounting to RSD 25,000, and now they will have better working conditions and higher salaries, Vucic said.

The Public Procurement Law has brought improvements, Vucic said but also announced amendments.

Vucic added that up to €150 million will be invested in production at the coal mine.
