The nationalisation of the Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) project
to transport Azeri natural gas to Europe through Turkey has been proposed to
Turkey’s cabinet, local media reported on Wednesday, citing energy minister
Taner Yildiz.
News agency Anadolu Ajansi quoted Taner Yildiz as saying
also that the Southern Gas Corridor project, which includes TANAP, is very
important for the region and world. Taner Yildiz spoke during the opening of an
energy forum in Ankara on Wednesday.
Azeri state-owned oil and gas firm
Socar holds a 80% stake in TANAP, while Turkish oil and gas companies BOTAS and
TPAO own the remaining 20% of the project.
