U.S. energy group Chevron is exiting the Bulgarian market, local media reported on Wednesday.
In the past years the group had no operation in Bulgaria, business newspaper Capital Daily reported, quoting unnamed sources.
At the beginning of 2012, the Bulgarian government cancelled Chevron’s five-year permit for oil and gas exploration, which was granted in June the previous year. The license withdrawal came after environmentalists staged protests against shale gas exploration and extractionin big cities across the country.
