In connection with publications that the Bulgarian Energy Holding is preparing a decision to contract with Gazprom for taking a billion loan to finance of the Bulgarian participation in the South Stream project, the Bulgarian Head of State expressed surprise and dismay at the continuation of the activities in this project by the government
In connection with publications that the Bulgarian Energy Holding is preparing a decision to contract with Gazprom for taking a billion loan to finance of the Bulgarian participation in the South Stream project, the Bulgarian Head of State expressed surprise and dismay at the continuation of the activities in this project by the government, despite public commitments taken on June 8, 2014 by Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski to suspend operations on the project, the Press Secretariat of the head of state announced.

President Rosen Plevneliev reminded that on June 2, 2014, the European Commission announced that against Bulgaria is launched a criminal proceeding for breach of the rules for the functioning of the European internal market and competition. Failure to comply with European legislation could lead to sanctions against Bulgaria, which will be a burden to every Bulgarian citizen.

The head of state Rosen Plevneliev calls to suspend all activities related to the project until bring it into line with European legislation.
