Turkish energy company Zorlu Enerji [BIST:ZOREN] said on Monday its wholly-owned
unit Zorlu Jeotermal Enerji Elektrik Uretim has received a preliminary licence
for a 24.9 megawatt (MW) geothermal power plant in the western Turkish province
of Manisa.
Turkey’s energy market regulator has granted the company
preliminary licence for the Alasehir 2 project, Zorlu Enerji said in a bourse
filing.
The Turkish electricity market legislation requires power project
developers to obtain preliminary licences for a period of up to 24 months during
which they have to complete the necessary permit procedures for their projects
and apply for a generation licence.
Zorlu Enerji, part of local
conglomerate Zorlu, is active in the design, installation, operation of power
plants and electricity sales through its subsidiaries. The company also
explores, produces and distributes natural gas in Turkey. Its unit Zorlu
