If the planned new nuclear unit at Bulgaria’s Kozloduy NPP is built, the electricity it would produce would be sold at a rate of BGN 39/MWh (about EUR 19) plus an addition which should cover using the U.S. AP 1000 reactor technology, Michael Kirst, Westinghouse VP for EMEA, without precising the amount of the additional cost that would be added to each megawatt. The turnkey cost of the project is set at USD 5.3 billion which are to be covered by Kozloduy NPP. Another USD 700 million is to be paid up-front by the Bulgarian state. Westinghouse on its turn will have to secure USD 300 million which covers the cost of the equipment manufacturing and delivery and the preparation of the construction site reports Publics.
