Albania launched a power transmissionline on Wednesday linking the towns of
Erseke and Permet in the country's south, Albania's transmission system operator
OST said.
The 110 kilovolt (kV) line will improve the quality of power
supply in southern Albania and, together with other planned investments, will
create the necessary infrastructure for development of tourism on the country's
Ionian Sea coast, OST said in a statement posted on its website, quoting energy
minister Damian Gjiknuri.
The construction of the 56-kilometre line was
funded by a loan from the German government through the KfW bank. It is part of
a larger project for development of the 110 kV network in southern
Albania.
