Domestic consumers pay half as much again for electricity than business
consumers, said the Turkish Statistics Institute (TurkStat) on
Wednesday.
Domestic consumers paid on average 0.354 Turkish lira
($0.1577/0.1246 Euro) per kWh for electricity, whereas business consumers paid
on average 0.234 Turkish lira, the institute reported in its statement called
TurkStat's Electricity and Natural Gas Prices which covers the first half of
this year. This is a difference of 51%.
Natural gas prices, however,
showed less variation between the two groups of consumers than electricity
prices. Domestic consumers pay 16% more than businesses, paying on average 1.042
Turkish lira per cubic metre for natural gas, while business consumers paid on
average 0.895 Turkish lira per cubic metre.
