Turkish Domestic Users Pay 51% More than Industry for Electricity

Domestic consumers pay half as much again for electricity than business consumers, said the Turkish Statistics Institute (TurkStat) on Wednesday.

Domestic consumers paid on average 0.354 Turkish lira ($0.1577/0.1246 Euro) per kWh for electricity, whereas business consumers paid on average 0.234 Turkish lira, the institute reported in its statement called TurkStat's Electricity and Natural Gas Prices which covers the first half of this year. This is a difference of 51%.

Natural gas prices, however, showed less variation between the two groups of consumers than electricity prices. Domestic consumers pay 16% more than businesses, paying on average 1.042 Turkish lira per cubic metre for natural gas, while business consumers paid on average 0.895 Turkish lira per cubic metre.
