Romania's top oil and gas group, OMV Petrom, said on Wednesday it has 
spent 2.1 million euro ($2.6 million) on replacing the lighting systems in 345 
filling stations with new, energy-efficient ones.
The new, LED-based 
systems will result in a 50% reduction ofelectricity consumption for lighting 
in the filling stations, the company said in a statement.
The supplier, 
local company Electromagnetica, wasselectedfollowing an international tender 
carried outearlier this year.
The fundingfor this project 
ispartlyensured through an Energy Efficiency Financing Facility,a 
grantsupported credit line for Romania offered by the European Bank for 
Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Union.Following afinal 
evaluation of the project by EBRD, a grant consisting of15% of the total value 
of the investment will be released, OMV Petrom added.
The company is 
considering extending the project for itsentire network, which comprises about 
800 fillingstations.
