Bulgaria's consolidated budget surplus is expected to reach
1.15 billion levs ($641 million/588 million euro) at the end of May, equivalent
to 1.4% of the country's projected gross domestic product (GDP), thefinance
ministry said.
Budget revenues in the January-May period are seen at
13.84 billion levs, up 17.5% on the year, while expenditures are projected at a
total 12.7 billion levs, the finance ministry said in a statement late on
Friday.
Bulgaria's contribution to the EU budget in the first five months
of the year will total 451 million levs.
In January-May 2014, Bulgaria
posted consolidated budget deficit of 888.6 million levs, or 1.1% of the
projected GDP.
In the first four months of 2015 Bulgaria's consolidated
budget surplus stood at of 1.1 billion levs, sharply up from 257.1 million levs
a month earlier, finance ministry data releasedalso on Friday
showed.
The budget surplus was largely the result of higher tax revenues
and expenses reimbursed by the European Commission.
