Bosnian company Eko Energy plans to build a small-sized hydro power plant (SHPP) worth 3.9 million marka ($2.2 million/2 million euro), the government of Bosnia's Zenica-Doboj canton said.

The SHPP will be located on the Stavnja river, in the municipality of Vares.

The cantonal minister for agriculture, forestry and water management Himzo Smajic signed on Tuesday a 30-year concession contract with Eko Energy, the government said in a statement.

Eko Energy director Zahir Skoljic said that the company is ready to begin the construction works in the next 15 days.

Zenica-Dobojis one of the 10 cantons of the Muslim-Croat Federation, one of the two autonomous entities that make up Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other one is the Serb Republic.
