The electricity regulator of
Bosnia’s Serb Republic, REERS, said it has approved an average electricity price
hike of 8.76% from July 1.
The new tariffs were prompted by ten companies
operating within the entity’s power utility, Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske
(ERS), REERS said in a statement on its website on Thursday.
With this
decision, the average electricity tariff for households will rise by 9.4% to
0.1369 marka ($0.08/0.07 euro) per kWh.
REERS said it last hiked power
tariffs in 2010.
The Serb Republic is one of the two autonomous entities
that form Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other one is the Muslim-Croat
Federation.
Bosnia has a further two power utilities - Elektroprivreda
HZHB and Elektroprivreda BiH, the largest of the three, both based in the
Federation.
