Serbia's energy regulator, AERS, said on Friday it has approved
as of July 1 a cut in household gas tariffs by an average of 10.5% and by an
average of 11.2% for end-consumers eligible to get their gas from public
suppliers.
The decision is due to the alignment of tariffs to oil prices,
which are used as a benchmark for setting the price of natural gas, as well as
due to recent changes in the US dollar exchange rate, AERS said in a
statement.
In Serbia, 249,000 households, or 10% of the total, have
access to gas. As of July 1, they will pay on average 5.3 dinars ($0.0493/0.044
euro) less per cubic meter of gas.
This is the second gas tariff cut in
Serbia this year.
