"Quest for a New Energy Balance”
is the
special theme for this year’s SE Europe
Energy Dialogue
,
which is convened by the Institute of Energy for SE Europe (IENE) and will be held in Thessalonikion June 29-30. The 9th SEEED will among other topics seek to
explore the rebalancing now taking place in the global and regional energy
markets and how it affects SE Europe. In addition, the Energy Dialogue will
discuss latest developments in the region’s electricity, gas, oil and renewable
sectors. The event is supported by the Delegation of the European Commission in
Greece and is sponsored by leading energy groups in Greece and SE Europe.
Senior officials from a number of international
organizations - including the International Energy Agency (IEA), the European
Commission, the Energy Charter, the Organization for Security and Co-operation
in Europe (OSCE), the Coordinated Auction Office in South East Europe, (SEECAO)
etc. – are among the 45 speakers and panellists in this year’s Energy Dialogue.
A prime objective of this
regional forum is the exchange of information and ideas, networking and the
development of co-operation for the tackling of the increased global and
regional energy and environmental challenges.
The SE Europe
Energy Dialogue is highly topical given EU’s major
drive to establish an "Energy Union” and the emphasis placed on energy security
in view of persisting regional instability, as well as on account of latest
developments in the region’s fast-moving natural gas, electricity and RES
markets but also S.E. European countries’ evolving energy partnerships with
Russia, the Caspian Sea region, the Persian Gulf, the East Mediterranean and
North Africa
