Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) received an order from U.K.-based Green Investment Group (GIG) to supply 56 wind turbines for the 235-megawatt (MW) Overturingen Wind Park in central Sweden, SGRE announced Monday

"The scope of the project is to supply 56 units of the SWT-DD-130 wind turbine rated at 4.2 MW each, including delivery, installation and [25-year] long-term service," a press release read.

SGRE said that with a tip height of 220 meters, the turbines would be among the tallest structures in the Nordic countries, adding they were more than 30 meters higher than the highest building in Scandinavia today.

Installation at the site in the Ange community, situated halfway between the cities of Sundsvall and Ostersund, is scheduled for 2019 with full commissioning the same year.

Manufacturing of nacelles and blades is planned in the Siemens Gamesa facilities in Denmark, while other essential construction work will be sourced from local companies.

According to the statement, Swedish forest products company SCA, in close partnership with Siemens Gamesa, developed the Overturingen Wind Park.

GIG, a business of Macquarie Capital, had announced last week that it acquired the project from SCA and Turinge Energi AB.

Ricardo Chocarro, CEO Onshore at SGRE said the project "demonstrates the attractiveness of wind energy for the capital markets, investors and communities".

According to the statement, Siemens Gamesa has been present in Sweden since 1992, with an installed base of nearly 1.3 gigawatts and more than 500 turbines.
