Turkey's energy import bill decreased by 16.4% to $3.42 billion in July compared to the same month of 2018, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute on Thursday

The data shows that Turkey's overall import bill, including energy and other items, totaled $18.35 billion in July, with energy accounting for over 18%.

While the overall energy import bill fell last month, the country increased its crude oil purchases.

Turkey imported approximately 2.87 million tons of crude oil last month, up from 2.27 million tons during the same period in 2018.

The country's crude oil imports showed a 26.4% rise over the same period compared to July 2018.
