French giant Gaz de France (1020848.FR) is in talks with Russian oil producer OAO Lukoil (LKOH.RS) over filing a joint application to buy a controlling stake in a territorial generation company OAO TGK-10 (TGKJ.RS), the newspaper Vedomosti reported Tuesday.

It cited a source close to TGK-10's parent company, electricity monopoly RAO Unified Energy System of Russia (EESR.RS), as saying that GDF wants to reduce risks in its first project on the Russian market.

A Lukoil spokesperson declined to comment to the paper.

Marita Nagoga, a spokeswoman with UES, told Vedomosti that the company plans to sell 82% of TGK-10 shares at the end of February or beginning of March. The sum of the deal is around $2 billion.
