U.K. nuclear power producer British Energy (BGY.LN) said on Wednesday that its 635-megawatt Torness 2 reactor shut down due to an unplanned outage at 1329 GMT Tuesday.
U.K. nuclear power producer British Energy (BGY.LN) said on Wednesday that its 635-megawatt Torness 2 reactor shut down due to an unplanned outage at 1329 GMT Tuesday.

"Unit 2 at Torness tripped at 1.29 PM yesterday. It was an unplanned shutdown and we're assessing when it can return to service and whether we should carry out any additional maintanace during the outage," a spokesman for the company said.

He added that the shutdown is related to the reactor's boiler.
