Kazakhstan has agreed with Uzbekistan's Uzbekneftegaz and Russian gas monopoly OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS) that 5 billion cubic meters of natural gas will supplied to its internal market this year, state news agency Kazinform reported Tuesday citing the energy ministry.

Sauat Mynbayev was quoted as saying that the natural gas would be delivered to Kazakh state oil and gas company Kazmunaigas through swap operations. He also said that in the second half of 2008 the price for gas supplied would rise to $85 a cubic meter. Mynbayev didn't say what the current price for natural gas is.

The amount of supplies through this deal would be 20% higher than last year, Mynbayev said.

Kazakhstan lies on the transit route for Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan's natural gas supplies to Russia.
