The European Commission Monday said it has restarted its antitrust investigation into Austrian energy company OMV AG's (OMV.VI) planned takeover of Hungary's MOL Nyrt (MOL.BU), with a new deadline of Sept. 18.

The commission said it could resume the probe into the deal as it had received the information it had requested. The investigation was halted May 5, due to missing data.

OMV, which holds 20.2% of MOL, launched a bid for all of the Hungarian company in June 2007, but the advances have been repeatedly turned down by MOL's management.
