Russian President Dmitry Medvedev Monday said there is no need to change the country's economic policy and called for more domestic capital to be invested in Russian financial markets.

"There is no need to change the priorities of our economic policy," Medvedev told about 50 chief executives of Russian companies, including OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS), Severstal JSC (CHMF.RS), Lukoil Holding (LKOH.RS), TNK-BP Holding (TNBP.RS).

Medvedev also said the government needs to invest the funds it has accumulated from its oil revenue windfall to support domestic financial markets.

He said the currently "difficult situation" on Russian financial markets is partially the result of the conflict with Georgia.
