METLEN Energy & Metals has achieved a significant milestone by reaching 588 MW of renewable energy production in Chile. The company continues to strengthen its presence in Latin America following the completion of two new projects: Tocopilla (227 MW) and Tamarico (167 MW)

The Tocopilla and Tamarico solar parks, inaugurated last week in the presence of national and local authorities of Chile, are part of a portfolio with a total investment of $460 million. Specifically, the portfolio includes the Willka solar park (109.2 MW), inaugurated in December 2023, and the Doña Antonia park (86 MW), which started operation in August 2024.

These projects are designed to provide clean, 100% renewable energy to Enel Chile, based on a power purchase agreement (PPA). It is also noted that in 2025, energy storage batteries (BESS) will be added to each station. Furthermore, these projects are expected to serve the annual energy consumption of more than 800,000 households, while preventing the emission of over 240,000 tons of CO2 each year.

Juan Pablo Toledo, Country Manager of METLEN LATAM, states: "With the inaugurations of Tocopilla and Tamarico, we have completed the construction of our portfolio in Chile. We hope these projects will contribute to the country's sustainable development and further strengthen METLEN's presence in Latin America."

It is worth noting that METLEN has been active in Chile for over 7 years. Before developing its own portfolio, the company built over 600 MW of solar projects for major partners such as Enel, Mainstream, Atlas, Sonnedix, and EnfraGen.
