The U.K. government is keen to get an amendment into the energy bill going through parliament that would allow a subsidy called a feed-in tariff to be given to energy projects smaller than 3 megawatts in capacity, U.K. newspaper The Guardian reports Friday.

It hopes the measure, which would force energy companies to pay a premium for power generated in localized renewable energy projects, would lead to a big increase in micro-generators from the 100,000 currently in use and boost the use of renewable energy, the paper says.
