Iran will set up some 50 new compressed natural gas, or CNG, stations in Tehran by March 2009, the state Irna news agency reported, citing the head of Iran's Headquarters for Management of Transportation and Fuel.

Mohammad Rouyanian said the price of CNG hasn't changed and will be delivered to the station owners at the current price of 80 rials, Irna said Thursday.

Rouyanian added that CNG stations will be set up in Tehran's satellite towns if the Tehran Municipality allocates the necessary land, according to Irna.

Only town residents are entitled to purchase gas at these stations, Rouyanian said, reported Irna.
