Russian natural gas giant Gazprom OAO (GAZP.RS) aims to triple its market share in France over the next three to five years, French business daily La Tribune reports Monday.

Gazprom wants to sell 1.5 million cubic meters of gas in the next three to five years, versus 0.5 million cubic meters currently, Vice-President Alexander Medvedev told a press conference Friday, the paper reports.

"We want to assure the distribution in all countries where we deliver gas on the basis of long-term contracts. After the U.K. and France, we have projects planned notably in Austria and Italy," Medvedev is also quoted as saying by the paper.
