Russia's OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS) is prepared to reduce its stakes in some projects in exchange for additional investment from partners, the Kommersant daily reported Tuesday citing an unnamed source close to the company's board.
Gazprom could lose $20 billion in revenue next year due to falling gas prices and is seeking ways to finance major projects such as the Nord Stream pipeline and Shtokman field, the report said.
This strategy, which according to the report will be discussed at a board meeting next week, could force Gazprom to give up formal control of some projects.
