Gazprom Neft (SIBN.RS), the oil arm of Russian gas firm OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS), has bought a lubricants plant in Italy from U.S. oil major Chevron Corp. (CVX), the company said Wednesday without mentioning the purchase price.

The plant, located in Bari, produces up to 36,000 metric tons of lubricants a year for transportation and industrial use, Gazprom Neft said.

The company will also get the rights to use the Texaco brand to market its products on the Italian market.

Gazprom Neft said the acquisition will create "marketing and production synergy" with Serbia's NIS refinery, which it bought into earlier this year.
