Iran's oil minister said the country plans to build an additional 400 compressed natural gas, or CNG, stations by next March in an effort to reduce gasoline consumption, the Iran Daily newspaper reports Monday.

Gholam Hossein Nozari said 880 CNG stations are currently providing gas to dual-fuel vehicles using both gasoline and CNG throughout Iran, the daily reports, citing the state Irna news agency.

Nozari said Iran plans to raise the number of CNG stations in parallel with dual-fuel car production, reports Iran Daily.

The government hopes switching to dual-fuel will provide relief for motorists impacted by gasoline rationing, since there are no limits on the supply of CNG, according to the daily.
