Brazilian state-run energy giant Petrobras (PBR) notified the country's National Petroleum Agency late Thursday that it found traces of oil in a wildcat well in the Espirito Santo Basin.

The find was made at the inland BT-ES-14 block in Espirito Santo state. The BCH Energy 8 rig spudded the 1BRSA758ES well at the block, drilling to a total depth of 1,950 meters, according to ANP drilling data.

In July, Petrobras reported an oil find in the same block at the 1BRSA739ES prospect. The discovery was made at a total depth of 2,315 meters.

Oil companies operating in Brazil must inform the ANP of indications of oil, gas or hydrocarbons in any exploratory well within 48 hours. The disclosures are routine, and do not indicate commercial viability.
