Hungarian oil and gas giant MOL Nyrt. (MOL.BU) said Wednesday that deliveries of Russian crude oil through Ukrainian had been halted since Tuesday evening due to technical problems.
"On Tuesday, gale-force winds and snow led to electricity blackouts, which have interrupted crude deliveries to Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic," MOL said in a statement.
The Hungarian group said Ukraine had promised to resume deliveries as soon as the problem was sorted out.
"The interruption in deliveries will not affect our refining as we have reserves to last for several days," MOL said.
Last winter, Hungary was cut off from crucial gas supplies for days owing to a pricing dispute between Russia and Ukraine.
But households were largely unaffected thanks to Hungary's reserves of 3.5 billion cubic meters, with restrictions imposed only on large industrial users.
