China 's monthly crude oil demand between April and June is expected to rise to around 35 million metric tons amid a recovering economy, the state-controlled Xinhua News Agency reported Friday.

This means the nation will continue to meet over 50% of its domestic crude needs through imports as local crude production can only be maintained at 16.2 million tons a month, it said.

Imported crude oil met 53.4% of
China 's domestic consumption during the first quarter, Xinhua added.
