China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group has started a trial with nuclear fuel loaded in a power generation unit using domestically developed CPR1000 technology at its Lingao Nuclear Power Station Phase II, the state-run Xinhua News Agency said Thursday.

It is the first time in the country that a nuclear power station with CPR1000-technology has run a trial with nuclear fuel loaded, marking a milestone in the development of China nuclear power industry, Xinhua said.

The Lingao nuclear power station, located in the southern province of Guangdong , is expected to put this CPR1000 unit into commercial operation in October, it said.
