Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz said Friday the country's government aims to hand over the state-owned pipeline and gas company Botas's 6 billion cubic meters natural gas contract with Russia, the Ihlas News Agency, or IHA, reported.

A tender will be held for the sale, Yildiz told reporters.

Last month, Yildiz said non-state companies will take over a natural gas import agreement with
Russia from Botas.

"The renewal of the natural gas agreement with
Russia that will expire in 2011 will be made by the private sector," Yildiz said previously.
