German utility E.ON AG (EOAN.XE) said Wednesday it has completed a reorganization of its top management level after appointing a new executive board member and naming new chief executives for its two biggest units.

The appointments finalize the management reshuffle started by new chief executive Johannes Teyssen shortly after he took office in May. The new management structure is aimed at bringing the company's wide-ranging businesses under more central control, E.ON said at the time.

Only two weeks after Teyssen took charge of the company, E.ON named three new executive board members to oversee newly created areas of responsibility, including production of power and natural gas, and global energy trading, as well as a new management portfolio for technology issues.

The management reshuffle also matches recent operational restructuring measures, including centralizing all of its energy trading activities into one unit and creating a subsidiary that oversees E.ON's new build power plant projects across all of its markets.

E.ON said Wednesday that Bernhard Reutersberg has been named as new member of the group's executive board. He will be in charge of E.ON's numerous national businesses scattered across
Europe .

In his new job Reutersberg will also be responsible for E.ON's distribution and retail businesses in the national subsidiaries that supply more than 30 million customers with power and gas. He will also oversee government and regulatory affairs and coordinate E.ON's operations in
Russia .

Klaus Schaefer will replace Reutersberg as chief executive of E.ON Ruhrgas--the company's core gas business. Schaefer had been president and chief executive of E.ON Italia.

E.ON also said that Ingo Luge has been promoted to chief executive of E.ON Energie, the company's largest earnings contributor. He previously was managing director of E.ON Kraftwerke, the unit that runs the firm's conventional power plant fleet in
Germany .

Luge replaces Klaus-Dieter Maubach, who moved up to the group's executive board to take charge of a new portfolio for technology issues.

Luca Dal Fabbro--head of E.ON Italia's sales business--will expand his responsibilities and become CEO of the unit effective Sept. 1.

Miguel Antonanzas will become president of E.ON Italia, while remaining CEO of the company's Spanish market unit.
