As a former environmental adviser at BP (BP.LN), Jupiter Asset
Management's Charlie Thomas is better placed than many to comment on the impact
of the recent disaster on oil company policy, says the funds team at Oriel
Securities. Thomas, fund manager of both the Jupiter Green Investment Trust and
the Jupiter Ecology Fund suggested in a recently published trading update that
big multinational companies may now be more willing to invest in energy
efficiency technology to lessen their environmental impact, reduce risk and
reduce cost, notes Oriel.
"We share this view and see the recent sell-off
in environmental stocks as a buying opportunity. Buy on 17.5% discount at
attractive relative value," adds Oriel. Stoxx 600 oils & gas index
