Turkish fuel distributor and energy firm Turcas Petrol AS (TRCAS.IS) Friday posted a slight decline in third-quarter net profit, reflecting a decline in sales, the Ihlas News Agency, or IHA, reported Friday.

The company reported a net profit of 17.7 million Turkish lira ($12.4 million) in the third quarter, down from TR18.8 million a year earlier.

Its sales fell to TRY11.1 million in the third quarter from TRY12.7 million a year earlier.

It reported a net profit of TRY67.2 million in the first nine months of 2010.

The company posted a net profit of TRY21.5 million in the same period of 2009.

Turcas didn't give a reason for the profit rise, but according to the Istanbul Stock Exchange's website, it mainly stemmed from rising sales.

The company's sales rose to TRY39.1 million in the first nine months of the year from TRY30.8 million a year earlier.
