French nuclear group Areva SA (CEI.FR) sees energy storage as a key goal as it invests in research and development, Chief Executive Anne Lauvergeon said Wednesday.

"Our ultimate dream would be electricity stocking," she told lawmakers during a parliamentary hearing.

"He who knows how to stock electricity in a competitive way, changes all the equations, it changes everything," she said, adding: "We are working a lot on this subject."

Lauvergeon also said she expects to win regulatory approval in
France for its Atmea reactor, which it has designed and developed jointly with Japan 's Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (7011.TO), "around the autumn" of 2011.

In separate remarks, she warned of a "market effect" and of "rip offs," with third-generation nuclear technology being promoted as representing a fourth generation.
