Azerbaijan produced 7.9 million metric tons of crude oil in January and February, unchanged from the same period last year, Azerbaijan 's state statistics agency said Tuesday.

Azerbaijan 's gas output over the two months fell 0.4% on the year to 4.1 billion cubic meters.

The government expects total oil production in 2011 at 51.55 million tons and gas production at 29.13 billion cubic meters.

The statistics agency didn't say how much the BP PLC (BP)-led consortium that operates
Azerbaijan 's Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli block in the Caspian Sea produced in the period.

Last year,
Azerbaijan produced 51.5 million tons of crude oil, or 1.03 million barrels a day, and 27 billion cubic meters of gas.
