Saudi Arabian Oil Co., or Saudi Aramco, said Wednesday it started production at its new low-sulphur diesel unit at its Ras Tanura refinery on the Persian Gulf coast.

The facility has a total production capacity of 105,000 barrels a day of low-sulphur diesel, the world's largest state-owned oil company said in an emailed statement.

The sulphur content in the diesel is less than 10 parts per million, Aramco said.

Ras Tanura is Aramco's first and largest refinery in the kingdom, and has an output capacity of 550,000 barrels a day of crude products.
