China imported 340,000 metric tons of diesel in June and exported 200,000 tons of the fuel, according to data published Wednesday by the Hong Kong-based China Customs Statistics Information Centre.

In the first half of this year, diesel imports totaled 1.03 million tons, an increase of 35% from a year earlier, the data showed. Exports dropped 57% to 1.12 million tons.

China exported 320,000 tons of gasoline in June and didn't import any of the fuel, according to the data.

During the January-June period, gasoline exports reached 2.39 million tons, a decline of 22% from a year ago, while imports were up 58% to 101 tons, the data showed.

Last month's fuel oil and liquefied natural gas imports were at 2.22 million tons and 1.04 million tons, respectively, according to the CCS data.
