Iraq 's oil exports in August ran at an average 2.189 million barrels a day, or 1.1% above the rate in July, the head of State Oil Marketing Organization, or SOMO, said Thursday.

Despite the increase, revenues were down slightly to around $7.126 billion from $7.311 billion in July due to a slump in world oil prices, Falah Alamri told Dow Jones Newswires by telephone from
Baghdad .

Iraq sold its crude oil at an average $105 a barrel in August, compared with $108.795 a barrel in July, he said.

Iraq 's oil revenues reached $55.7 billion during the first eight months of this year, compared with $52.2 billion in the whole of 2010.

If oil prices remain on the current range for the rest of the year,
Iraq 's oil revenues could reach more than $80 billion in 2011.

Basra Light crude exports flowed at around 1.728 million barrels a day, up from 1.708 million barrels a day in July, and
Kirkuk crude sales ran at around 461,000 barrels a day, up from 456,000 barrels a day in July, the SOMO head said.
