Libya is currently producing slightly more than 300,000 barrels of a oil a day following its resumption of production after the overthrow of Colonel Moammar Gadhafi, with the country expected to return to prewar output levels by the end of 2012, Total SA (TOT) Chief Executive Christophe de Margerie said Tuesday.

"Today we are a little bit above 300,000 [barrels a day]. There is still a lot to produce," said de Margerie, adding that previous production levels were "something like 1.7 million, 1.8 million barrels a day."

"Libya should be able to go back to full capacity of production by end of 2012," said de Margerie, who was speaking on the sidelines of an industry conference here.
