Saipem SpA (SPM.MI) said Monday it has secured $1.5 billion in new contracts.

The Italian oil services company said its engineering and construction division has got new contracts in Iraq, Nigeria, the Gulf of Mexico and the North Sea.

The news gave an immediate push to Saipem's shares. At 0852 GMT, they were up EUR0.97, or 3.3%, at EUR30.03.
