Romanian state-run natural gas pipeline operator Transgaz Medias (TGN.RO) Thursday reported a net profit of 283.9 million lei ($90 million) in the first nine months, barely changed from RON284.2 million in the year-earlier period, news agency Mediafax reports.

Operating profit stood at RON328 million, slightly down from RON331 million in January-September last year, Transgaz said in its financial report.

Transgaz said total revenue rose 5.92% on the year to RON1.02 million in the first nine months, while overall costs rose 8.6% to RON686 million.

Gas transport increased by 4.3 million megawatt hours to 93.4 million MWh at the end of September.

The company reported sales of RON940.4 million in the first nine months, up 2.7% from RON915.7 million in the same period a year ago.

Transgaz was listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange at the beginning of 2008. The Economy Ministry owns a 73.5% stake, investment fund Fondul Proprietatea has almost 15% and the rest is distributed among various shareholders.

At around 1000 GMT, Transgaz traded up 2.38% at RON215 a share, amid a slightly rising market.
