The world's largest wind turbine maker Vestas Wind Systems A/S said Friday it has received two unconditional orders from Germany and Italy with a joint volume of 62 megawatt production capacity.

With the two orders, Vestas has announced a total of six orders Friday with an accumulated volume of 259 megawatts.

The new orders brings the company's volume of orders booked in 2011 to 6,194 megawatts, still considerably short of the full-year order target of between 7,000 and 8,000 megawatts.

Earlier Friday, however, Vestas spokesman Peter Kruse told Dow Jones Newswires the company feels confident it will reach the target in the last hours before the new year starts.

The target includes smaller unannounced orders, which analysts have estimated could amount to some 500 megawatts.

The latest orders announced were for 19 V90-2.0 turbines for EDF Energie Nouvelles's Gargano wind farm in Apulia, Italy, and another 12 V90-2.0 turbines for the French company's Eckolstadt wind farm in Thuringen, Germany.

Earlier in the day, Vestas had announced a 54 megawatt order for a U.K. wind farm, a 50 megawatt order for a Pakistani wind farm, a 24 megawatt order for a French wind project, and an order for 69 megawatts worth of production capacity for a Swedish wind project.
