Russian independent natural gas producer OAO Novatek (NVTK.RS) said Thursday its gas production in the fourth quarter increased by a third compared with the same period of 2010, while the 2011 full-year gas production was up 41.7% from 2010.

The company, which produces natural gas in Russia 's North, said its fourth-quarter gas output was 14.53 billion cubic meters compared with 10.89 bcm in the last quarter of 2010.

The company produced 53.54 bcm of gas in 2011, up from 37.78 bcm a year earlier.

Production of crude oil and gas condensate stood at 1.06 million metric tons in the fourth quarter of 2011 and at 4.12 million tons for the full year, up 6.7% and 13.5% from the corresponding levels of 2010.

Novatek said December it expects to more than double output to around 115 bcm a year by 2020.
