Solar Frontier KK will establish a 50-50 joint venture with a German contractor this spring to build solar power facilities in that country, The Nikkei reported in its Friday morning edition.

The Showa Shell Sekiyu KK (5002.TO) subsidiary hopes the new construction business, PV CIStems GmbH, will enable it to expand operations beyond production and sales of solar cells.

The German partner, Belectric, is
Europe 's top firm for handling the design, procurement and construction of solar power facilities.

Covering both residential and industrial systems, the company has installed enough solar panels worldwide since 2010 to generate a total of 700,000kw.
