The new deal on Arctic natural-gas project Shtokman, led by Russia 's natural gas monopoly OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS), may suffer a minor delay, the company's Chief Executive said Thursday, Interfax reported.

"Some clarity on when to expect the deal will appear today, or tomorrow, and I don't exclude the possibility that we'd need a pause," Alexei Miller is quoted as saying by the agency.

Miller said Friday the new deal may be signed by the end of this week.

France 's Total SA (TOT) and Norway 's Statoil ASA (STO) are also participating in the project.
