Spain's five largest power producers may lose 2 billion euros ($2.44 billion) in profits as a result of the reform the government is set to approve Friday, financial daily Expansion reports, citing Unesa, the sector's lobby organization.

The government will raise taxes and lower payments to power utilities by roughly EUR7 billion. Unesa warned that the reforms might wipe out all the profit these companies make in Spain this year.
